What We Sort Out in Your Home

How each room gets used

Bedrooms want a soft saxony. Halls and stairs want a tighter twist that will not mat down.

Carpet and cushion together

We match face weight and twist to the room, then pick pad density to suit it, not the other way around.

Seams and roll width

Goods come 12 ft or 15 ft wide. We map where the seams fall before you pick the color.

Furniture and access

We tell you what to clear, what we move, and which door we carry the rolls through.

ROOM BY ROOM

Soft where you want it, tough where you need it

A media room wants deep cut pile you sink into. The hall outside it wants a tight twist that will not flatten into a footpath. You can have both in the same color family, and most homes should. We pick each carpet for the room it goes in, then keep the pad consistent so heights match at the doorways. Call +1 240 751 5542 and we will walk it with you.

Our Process

How Your Carpet Job Runs

1

Measure and talk

We measure every room and stair, then ask about kids, dogs, and traffic paths.

2

Pick carpet and pad

Face weight, twist level, and fiber for the room, matched to a cushion that supports it.

3

Clear and tear out

We move the furniture, pull the old carpet and pad, and haul it away.

4

Stretch, seam, finish

New tack strip, fresh pad, power stretched field, hot seams, then furniture back.

What Makes Home Carpet Last

The pad carries the carpet

Too soft and the backing flexes until it delaminates. We match cushion density to the carpet, not to the showroom feel.

Stretch is not optional

A knee kicker alone leaves slack that turns into ripples by spring. We pull the field with a power stretcher.

Twist beats plush in a hall

Tight twist yarn springs back under foot traffic. Loose plush lies down and shows the path.

Every room asks the carpet for something different

A bedroom and a hallway are not the same job. Bedrooms take a softer cut pile, because feet land there barefoot and traffic is light. Halls funnel the whole house through a four-foot strip, so they need a tight twist that springs back instead of lying down into a visible path. Stairs bend the backing over the nosing every time someone climbs, which rules out some loose Berber loops entirely. A home office adds a rolling chair, and that chair will find any weakness in the pile.

Pick the fiber and the construction room by room, then hold the color family steady so the changes look deliberate. If natural fiber is on your mind, read wool carpet installation.

Roll width decides where the seams land

Broadloom comes off the roll 12 ft or 15 ft wide. Your family room is 17 ft across. That gap is why seams exist, and why two rooms of equal area can need very different yardage. We map the layout before ordering, running the pile direction the same way through connected spaces so the color reads even under the same light.

Seams then get placed on purpose. Out of the walking path, away from the doorway you look through, and turned so the window light does not rake across them. We close them with a seam iron and seam tape, then stretch the field tight with a power stretcher.

Working around a house you still live in

We move the furniture and put it back. What we ask you to handle is the small stuff: lamps, electronics, closet floors, and anything that would hurt to lose. Big jobs get split by floor so you always have somewhere to sleep.

Stairs are their own operation and often the best place to spend a bit more; see stair runner installation if you want wood showing. For an early budget, run the numbers through the flooring cost calculator, then call us for the measured price.

Residential Carpet Questions

Do all the rooms need the same carpet?

No, and usually they should not. Bedrooms can take a soft saxony, while halls and stairs need a tighter twist that resists matting. Keep the color family consistent and the change reads as intentional at the doorway.

How thick should the pad be?

For most residential cut pile, a half-inch pad in the eight-pound density range works well. Thicker is not better. A soft, low-density pad lets the backing flex until the carpet delaminates, and it voids most carpet warranties.

Can you do it one floor at a time?

Yes. We often do bedrooms one day and stairs and hall the next so you keep a place to sleep. Each area still needs the whole sequence: furniture out, old carpet out, tack strip, pad, stretch, seam, furniture back.

What do I need to move myself?

Clear lamps, electronics, clothing, closet floors, and anything breakable. We handle beds, dressers, and sofas. Tell us about a piano, a gun safe, or an aquarium ahead of time so we can plan around it.
